Oshin and Mitchell - Traditional Indian Wedding
Moama, nsw
January 15 2021
I got an email just over a week ago from Oshin and jumped straight onto the phone. Oshin and Mitchell had previously planned 2 weddings but unfortunately like many others due to covid they had to cancel both weddings, the new plan was an intimate morning ceremony with just their parents present in Moama, NSW.
Oshin, Mitchell and their families had erected a Mandap on the lush lawns of the holiday home with the Murray River just a stones throw away. Everyone got ready inside with Oshin and Mitchell in different rooms. They hadn't seen each other before in their traditional outfits which made for a super exciting first look.
We went for a quick stroll around the bush land by the river for some photos in the morning light. It was so refreshing to see two people so invested in each other. After exploring the bush and chatting to what seemed like everyone in Moama we headed back to the house for the ceremony to start.
Oshin's Dad Uday took the traditional Indian wedding ceremony with help from her Mum Anita. The ceremony took place inside the Mandap with Oshin's parents welcoming Mitchell and his Parents Gabby and Lance. The ceremony has roughly 70 different steps to complete and around halfway Oshin's Dad Uday went back to the house to bring Oshin down for the second half of the ceremony.
The ceremony had so many different aspects and was amazing to watch. Oshin's dad spoke in traditional language while her mum translated for Mitchell and his parents. When the ceremony concluded you could feel the emotion in the air from everyone involved. After the tears and hugs Oshin and Mitchell snuck inside for some "extra photos".
What their parents didn't know was Oshin and Mitchell had organised a surprise on the front steps of the house and the "extra photos" was just to give them a chance to get changed. Oshin's brother called everyone around to the front where Oshin and Mitchell were in their western wedding attire. They had organised another ceremony with Oshin's Brother Saagar taking the ceremony this time. The ceremony was so heartfelt with the vows they had written for each other. More tears and hugs followed with everyone still so surprised how they managed to keep this a secret!
Thank you so much for having me along to your wedding, I had so much fun and learnt so much!
